What Rights - Fitness to Practice

One in, one out

Yesterday I took on a new client, a nurse accused of dishonestly working in second employment whilst on sick leave from the first.  This type of case is common and I have at least three of these at the moment.  You need to be very careful when working in second employment and I would suggest it is worth taking some advice on your particular circumstances to minimise the chances of any trouble arising from that work.

Yesterday also saw a client leave, happily I might add, after a no case to answer decision from the HCPC in their fitness to practice matter.  This social worker had been referred for failing to safeguard a child, after forgetting to record a safequarding referral from a school and thereafter not escalating it to their manager.  I worked with the client on the material we needed to present to the HCPC, including medical evidence, and on the back of my written arguments, the HCPC found there was no case to answer.  It's another happy and relieved client who can get on with their work and their life - let's hope my new client will have the same in a few months' time.
