It was a disappointing day at the NMC today for my client in their registration appeal.  Having been accused of behaving criminally towards patients in their care (which they denied), they were interviewed under caution by police many months ago, and left to wait for the outcome of the investigation.  Unfortunately, revalidation time came around, and because of the outstanding allegations and investigation, the NMC refused to renew my client's registration.

Despite appealing and doing all we could to make the appeal successful, the panel today turned down the appeal, with my client now having to wait for the outcome of the police investigation before he can re-apply for registration. It was a high hurdle to jump today, but we thought we had done enough. It just doesn't seem fair that on the basis of unproven allegations unsupported by any evidence, my registrant should lose his registration for an as yet undefined period.I really feel for him, and any others in this position. All is not lost though, as we are now going to give the police an exceedingly hard time, and hopefully get an end to this awful situation for my client.A tough day though.
