I thought I was out...

Over the past few weeks, I've been winding down my cases, ready for Xmas. Employment cases have been settled, and the marketing campaign has been dialled down. It all looked good until about 2 weeks ago, when cases started coming in from all angles. Fitness to practice case after fitness to practice case, only interrupted by the odd employment case.

9 days ago, I was instructed on a HCPC referral. The hearing was listed for today (Tuesday) and yesterday. As a result of winding down my cases, I was available to do the hearing.

For a moment, I wondered whether I wanted to do the case - after all, I had just made a nice comfortable run into Xmas for myself. It didn't take more than a few emails for the registrant in question to convince me that their case needed to be fought (and won).

This afternoon, as the panel deliberated on the allegations of dishonesty and insecure sending of confidential data, I sent my client out of the building to go and do some shopping - anything to take their mind off the wait for the decision. Apparently it's quite busy in Covent Garden at the moment.

The panel finally came back with their decision at 4pm, after 5 hours' waiting - no case to answer on all allegations. It's another great result for one of my clients, and means they can really concentrate on enjoying their Xmas.

Meanwhile, I've given up trying to wind my cases down - I thought I was out but they pulled me back in!
