The NMC makes work for idle hands
Some notes on my travails in the regulatory and employment world.
What have I been doing?
Have a browse and if you have any questions, you can call me, send me an email or use my contact form.
I could see the case disintegrating in front of my eyes.
I do get a little emotional when I see a nurse's reaction like that. It really means so much to them. It's well worth the time and effort.
Quick update
I've been keeping busy recently with reviews and restoration applications. One case of note, it pains me to say, was my first unsuccessful restoration application.
Criminal convictions = strike off?
You might think so, but in my experience, it is not always the case. Even when suspended sentences of imprisonment are imposed, as in a recent case, where my client had been convicted of a drink drive offence and assaulting a police officer
The season of goodwill?
Yesterday, at the HCPC, my client a former ODP made his plea to be restored to the register, after 8 years away. He had been struck off for defrauding the NHS and agencies of over £20,000 and subsequently being convicted and sentenced to 15 months' imprisonment.

Another nurse restored.
When you are struck off, you have to wait 5 years until you can apply to be restored to the register. There is the possibility of appealing the strike off order, but it is a high hurdle to get over in order to be successful.
I feel your pain
It was a disappointing day at the NMC today for my client in their registration appeal. Having been accused of behaving criminally towards patients in their care.
